RHSXC: Week of Sept 17-22

The week of September 17-23 is a busy week for the Rockford Cross Country teams. This short article is to assist all stakeholders in navigating the week ahead. Please read through to ensure you are prepared for this week.

***Updated - TUES: OK Red Jamboree #1 @ Holland West Ottawa (WO)

The meet is held at the secondary school campus of the West Ottawa school district. Specifically, Macatawa Middle School works best for your mapping system. WO has not hosted a meet in several years so this may be the first time for many of you in attending. In the past there was not a charge to enter and park nor a charge for spectating.

What is a jamboree? Quite simply, it is a fast way of running a large meet. For both the OK Red jamborees there are now two races each for boys and girls. All runners from Caledonia, East Kentwood, Hudsonville, Grandville, Grand Haven, Rockford and West Ottawa will run each race. The top 10 racers for each school's varsity team will run in the girls and then the boys race. There now are two 'JV' or 'Reserve' races added as the hosts decided to add as a convenience and relieve the congestion on the courses. The times are now

4:30 – Girls Varsity (Top 10) Race

5:00 – Boys Varsity (Top 10) Race

5: 30 - Girls JV Race

6:15 - Boys JV Race

FRI: GRCC Invite @ Riverside Park

The small event is held at the site of the OK Red Conference meet - Riverside Park. It is a chance for our runners to get experience or review running the course for our all important Conference meet in October. This is a relatively small invite with only five or six schools participating. For the ladies, Hart is coming back and has one of the fastest teams in all of Michigan regardless of class size. They finished just behind our ladies at MSU and have one of the fastest ladies in the state. There has not been a charge to park or attend this event in the past.

Please watch the calendar as the teams have split locations several times this week.

There is also a pasta dinner on the schedule for the girls at the Parker's on Thursday.
